A man wounded not once but 5 times in the civil war, his presidency was marked with him trying to bandage up the still fresh wounds of the north and south. My favorite part of his presidency was when he defeated the Ku Klux Klan in 1871, I don’t have much info on it so I’m guessing he did it in an arm wrestling competition.
